Event Testing in Pandemic and Its Results. Over the past few months, many sectors have been particularly influenced by the health emergency situation we have had to face. Some of them, such as the leisure sector, have not stopped looking for new formulas that allow them to continue developing their activity, and adapting it to the conditions dictated and recommended by the different organizations in charge of issuing these types of warnings.
However, in the case of nightlife, the situation is especially complicated. This is due to the fact that these are scenarios where it is common for hundreds of people to gather with no possibility of respecting the safety distance.
In this context, pilot tests to adapt to the new reality have emerged as one of the best solutions chosen by most entrepreneurs.
One of the best-known event tests in a pandemic and its results was carried out by the Sala Apolo in Barcelona, which hosted a total of 500 people last December. Attendees had to undergo an antigen test and a PCR to enter the venue.
To maximize the reliability of this event, another 500 people acted as a control group and also underwent these PCR tests, with the aim of contrasting the data obtained in this exercise.
All attendees received the OK to attend the event. They were subjected to a temperature test, as well as an FFP2 mask. They were also asked to have the Radar COVID app installed, in order to be alerted in case of a positive case.
All attendees were called a few days later to undergo the second round of results. To check if the event had complied with all the security measures and had managed to minimize the possibility of contagion.
Although many attendees already think it is possible to replicate the same experience in much larger events, the reality is that it seems that there is still a long time to wait to see the effects of these techniques in large-scale events.
Concerts like Primavera Sound, celebrations like the Mobile World Congress, or large corporate fairs will still have to wait their turn to organize them in spaces that are capable of maximizing their results to the fullest.
The new formulas and innovations that have been emerging for a few months now promise that we are getting closer and closer to being able to enjoy these types of celebrations with greater effectiveness. In precautionary measures and safety protocols, we find two of the necessary ingredients for this transition to the new normal.
